Smart sprinter Star Of Harkaway returned to his best form with a strong victory at Seymour.
Star Of Harkaway last won at Moe in June last year but the speedster had performed consistently in the ensuing period before trainer Rebecca Waymouth took the son of Magnus to Seymour for his latest assignment.
Star Of Harkaway also found himself racing on a heavy track for the first time in the Goulburn Murray Credit Union Rating 58 Handicap (1000m) but he had the services of Dale Smith, who was aboard in his Moe win.
The heavy track failed to stop Star Of Harkaway producing his brilliant early speed as he was able to cross to the fence to lead from barrier six within the first 200m.
Star Of Harkaway’s rivals decided to leave him alone in front midrace, which brought about their undoing as the gelding slipped two lengths clear early in the straight.
Start Of Harkaway’s rivals had most of the home straight to run him down but the four-year-old bravely defied his challengers in the last 100m to get home by a neck.
The handy galloper’s second win from 12 starts earned his great band of owners another $9000 winner’s cheque, taking his overall stakes tally to more than $37,400.
Congratulations to Star Of Harkaway’s owners and all involved with his latest success.
